the why

I’ve always loved anything and everything about pictures. Mostly the way they time stamped a moment in life. A good example would be my most cherished picture of my great great grandfather’s dance hall and a wedding that took place there. The picture is over a hundred years old and one of my most prized possessions.

I also have always loved taking pictures but it was just about capturing the moment and never about being good at it or turning it into art. About a year ago I decided that I wanted to learn more about my camera and learn about what goes into being not a good but great photographer. So I actually started paying attention to what I was shooting and what others around me where shooting. I feel like I’ve improved some but I know I have a long way to go. I also wanted some place to journal my transformation. So here I am w/ yet another blog!

  1. Nancy,
I do’t know – is it just us souterners that are sentimental about family? I’ve bent countless dollars preserving and framingpictures of my beloved family. I went nuts after Katrina finding them and reconnecting. Ill bet y’all have a family portrait gallry.

  2. LOL I have thousands of pictures. DH was so happy when I went digital because it was so much cheaper. My mother has most of the older ones and I cringe because they are not being preserved like they should be. I do worry every time there is a hurricane down there because at their age it’s just about getting to safety. When someone ask what I would save if a major hurricane were to come our way the answer is always my pictures! I’ve actually had to pack them up 3 times since living here. And that takes a whole day!
And you are right us southerners are very entrenched in family! Even the crazy ones lol.
