I love taking pictures of people and am always asked if people mind having their picture taken. I say you pretty much can read people and if they give me a dirty look then I move on. But I was reading someone’s blog today and found this link and I thought it to be an interesting answer to my lingering question about shooting people in public places.

So now I know that you have the right to shoot anyone in a public place. Which for me is a cool thing because I love capturing the thoughtful expression of a person when the aren’t posing for a camera.

A great accident! I spent the day playing w/ my macro lens and a plant. To windy out and not enough or the right light in. So bored w/ that I turned around and started shooting things on our bar in the kitchen. And was pleasantly surprised w/ the results. Yea I indulge in the cheap stuff! lol… I still want to capture the plant but I’m going to try it earlier in the morning and am thinking of trying a different bulb so the pictures won’t come out w/ such a yellow cast.

I’ve always loved anything and everything about pictures. Mostly the way they time stamped a moment in life. A good example would be my most cherished picture of my great great grandfather’s dance hall and a wedding that took place there. The picture is over a hundred years old and one of my most prized possessions.

I also have always loved taking pictures but it was just about capturing the moment and never about being good at it or turning it into art. About a year ago I decided that I wanted to learn more about my camera and learn about what goes into being not a good but great photographer. So I actually started paying attention to what I was shooting and what others around me where shooting. I feel like I’ve improved some but I know I have a long way to go. I also wanted some place to journal my transformation. So here I am w/ yet another blog!
